Ranking:
1. Inception- It was such a unique film, with its creative dream-invading, twisted, layered story line. Inception is complex, and a movie you can watch over and over and get a headache everytime. Another thing, is that the ending is left up to the viewer. I believe that in the end, it's still a dream. While he's walking through the airport, in the background noise is the sound the dream-inducer makes. Then again, I could be wrong. Like I said, it's up to the viewer.
2. The Social Network- This film was very captivating. I really enjoyed seeing how they portrayed the true story of Facebook's struggle to exist. I think Justin Timberlake did a great job as an actor, and I'd like to see him take on more of an acting role. It was cool, yet sad to see the rise and fall of friendships between characters as well.
3. The King's Speech- I loved this movie. The actors playing The Duke and the speech therapist did an amazing job. I hope they win the oscars for best Actor and best supporting actor. They did a great job acting off of each other, and its captivating to see their relationship grow throughout the film.
4. True Grit- I don't normally like Westerns, But I got into True Grit. Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon did a good job playing their roles, but Hailey Steinfeld did better than both of them combined. My guess is that she will win the Oscar for best Actress. Although there was great acting, the film was quite slow. I accidentally fell asleep for some of it because of its lack of action, until the end. But all around, it was a good movie.
5. Toy Story 3- Toy Story 3 was cute, funny, and was better than the first two Toy Stories, But I don't think it should win the Oscar for Best Picture. It's a tear-jerking love story, yet I don't think it's strong enough to stand up against the movies above. I can relate to Andy, leaving for college, and actually just yesterday I found my old Woody doll lying around. In the end, it's a great family movie, but not the best movie of the year.
6. Winter's Bone- There is no reason this movie should be nominated for Best Picture. There was only one scene (Teardrop vs. cop) where there was any decent acting. The rest was awful acting. There was poor dialogue too. I don't think there was much of a point to the movie, because in the end they got money, but it was only enough to live for about a month, but then the money will run out, and they'll be in the same position as earlier. I will be quite angry if this wins best Picture.

Brainstorming: "Crash"
1. experiments with racism
2. Directed by Paul Higgins
3. inner-twines characters lives
4. Ludacris does well in an acting roll
5. Interesting to see multiple racial stereotypes from different points of view
6. Makes you think differently after watching it
7. The title of the movie resembles the racial sterotypes crash together
8. Racial stereotype in Crash- Black people steal
9. Racial stereotype in Crash- Asains are bad drivers
10. Racial sterotype in Crash- Latinos are gangsters
11. Racial stereotype in Crash- Caucasians are rich and upper-class
12. Racial stereotype in Crash- Middle-easterns are evil and terrorists
13. Involves some people changing their views of other races, but in some cases, they never change their stereotypical views
14. Around 2 hours long
15. Stars Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges
Review of Crash:
Crash is one of my favorite movies, due to how Paul Higgins was able to interweave all the different points of view of racism together. It deals with the racial stereotypes of whites, blacks, asians, middle-easterns, and latinos. I find that ludacris does a good job in an acting roll. It's a tragic movie, so don't watch it if you're looking for something to brighten the mood.
